Here’s why we talk about recycling, trash, and compost as much as we do. It’s more than a mandate to be met, it’s a way of working together.
We’ve heard that:
- “Sorting our food scraps is a pain.”
- “I’m not going to garden, so I’m not going to need compost.”
- “I don’t have a lot, it won’t matter.”
But here’s the truth:
- Sorting might mean you change what you do, but if it’s not sorted, we risk contaminating the materials that can be recycled into compost at our facilities.
- As you can see in the video below, our CA farmers are using the compost that is made from our waste.
Yes, it’s the same compost that OC Waste & Recycling and CR&R (or another provider, if you aren’t in Rossmoor) makes available to us FOR FREE, if you do want it.
It’s available to us. This helps keep the cost of produce down, and makes it more nutritious where it’s grown, and provides the same for us, when we choose to do back (or front) yard food gardening.
