Ways To Be A Good Neighbor

We might have had this backwards!

We’ve been re-thinking, and here’s the thing: instead of contacting us to find out who your watch captain is, do us a favor in the spirit of efficiency.

While we might know your neighbors, you KNOW them (or at least should, right?)

If you don’t know your neighbors, here’s an ice-breaker question: “hey, I’m your neighbor at _____. Who’s our NW Captain?
Our Rossmoor Neighborhood Watch

If they don’t KNOW, it’s a perfect time to schedule a neighborhood get together to help all of your immediate neighbors make and cement friendships.

If you now who your NW Captain is, then reach out to them and ask them (or if you’re the NW Captain, have this conversation with yourself), hey it’s been a while, can we put a block gathering on the calendar?

It’s really not a big deal – your driveway is good enough (and often preferable.) Pick a date (usually Saturday or Sunday mornings are good, or sometimes afternoons are better) a few weeks out and invite the neighbors on your block.

Then share the date with us and we will give you some tips and can provide the “program” for you. And we will reach out to the OCSD to see if we can get a deputy to stop by to answer questions.

(Note: THE OCSD is always willing to stop by and answer questions, it’s just sometimes there’s an emergency they have to respond to.)

It’s super informal and casual (click for details). Some blocks will have coffee others ask their neighbors to bring something to share pot-luck style. Whatever works for your block.

Once you meet  a watch captain (you’re the best ones to decide) — let US get to KNOW them better too, so make sure to connect with us here (again): OurRossmoor.com/NW.

NW Captains are our best one-stop-shopping way of getting Just-In-Time (JIT) News out, to help your captains connect with all of you – providing information that is relevant and timely. Affected homes and neighbors get facts (often Real Time) – rather than waiting for social media posts to figure and sort out the facts.

We think you’ll agree. It’s a much more effective and neighborly way to do things.

Let us know how this works for you. Thanks!
