Last Thursday at Rossmoor Park the Orange County Sheriff’s Department (OCSD) and Orange Count Fire Authority (OCFA) delivered holiday cheer and toys to the boys and girls attending the Youth Center’s RASCALS Program.
The kids were treated to the Fire Engine from OCFA Station 2 in Los Alamitos running full lights and sirens by the park on their way to a call in Rossmoor. OCFA Community Relations Education Specialist Elizabeth Denny.
The Sheriff’s Department came out with dozens of toys, a lot of cheer and a simple message: respect your parents and others around you not just during the holiday, but always.
As you can see the kids had a great time and had a number of very good and entertaining questions for both departments. The phrase “out of the mouths of babes” came to mind a number of times as the Q&A went on for 15-20 minutes.
Then the day went back to as normal a day could be with Covid restrictions in place. It was all good and everyone walked away a little better for the time we spend together.
Thanks to all who made this day possible and if you would like to donate a toy or two to benefit the families The Youth Center serves, there’s time right up until December 4th. Just drop off the gift at either The Youth Center or the RCSD office in Rush Park during business hours.
