For the 14th year, Rossmoor has been named a Tree City USA recipient. The recognition was confirmed in early May by the Arbor Day Foundation for the 2023 calendar year after the annual verification process.
Rossmoor met the four requirements of the award by:
- Maintaining a tree board
- Having a tree care ordinance
- Dedicating and annual community forestry budget of at least $2 per capita
- Hosting an Arbor Day observance and proclamation
These requirements we met through the efforts of the Rossmoor Community Services District as they manage the nearly $2 million of our property tax dollars they receive from the county each year.
Tree City USA communities see the positive effects of an urban forest firsthand. Trees being planted and cared for be Rossmoor will help ensure that generations to come will enjoy a better quality of life. Our parks and parkways are just the beginning. Our yards are critical to maximizing the many benefits of our urban forest.
