Questions Regarding the Rossmoor Pickleball Project

Last month the Rossmoor Community Services District (RCSD) shed some light on the Rossmoor Pickleball Project during their regular Board of Directors meeting and the Parks and Facilities meetings.

The information provided was helpful and still left a number of unanswered questions. We have sent the letter below to the RCSD General Manager Joe Mendoza and the Board of Directors in hopes of getting some answers for the community regarding the costs and funding sources for this project

Please read our letter and if you have any questions, please let us know by contacting us, leaving a comment below, or giving us a call: 562.799.1401

  1. I went to the PB trials twice and both times left a favorable comment. Now, after learning more about it and talking to others who have PB courts in their neighborhood, I am against it. PB will bring more noise, traffic, and negative impacts into our community. It’s not worth it.

  2. The pickleball is very noisy, especially at night and on weekends, when the usual traffic slows down. Residents around the park, are not able to open their windows or sit in their backyards without hearing the loud pop from pickleball. There are many lawsuits across America and Canada, with pb courts closing and relocating further away from homes. Pickleball courts should not be closer than 500 ft from homes and have proper mitigation to reduce the noise. The Seal Beach Tennis and Pickleball club is only 1 mile down the road with amazing facilities.
