This year’s Earth Day theme is Planet vs. Plastics
It is critical that all of us actively do our part to reduce our plastic usage, because….
- Unlike other materials, a vast majority of plastic does not biodegrade or break down
- Plastic often breaks into tiny pieces called microplastics that pollute our planet (and even end up in the food we eat and products we use)
- Over 40% of landfill waste is plastic
- Toxic chemicals are released during the plastic manufacturing process
In our world today, the insidious spread of plastic pollution has reached alarming levels, threatening the delicate balance of our ecosystems and endangering the well-being of both wildlife and humanity alike. From the vast expanses of our oceans to the remotest corners of our lands, the presence of plastic waste has become an undeniable reality.
Yet, amidst this daunting challenge, we are not helpless bystanders. We are stewards of our planet with the power to effect change. It is incumbent upon us to heed the call to action, to confront this crisis with resolve and determination.
Through concerted efforts to reduce our plastic consumption, to embrace sustainable alternatives, and to advocate for policies that prioritize environmental conservation, we can begin to turn the tide in this struggle. Each small step we take, each mindful choice we make, contributes to the greater cause of safeguarding our planet for future generations.
One step at a time, starting today.
Plastic is harming our environment and it is up to each and every one of us to do our part to reduce our plastic usage!
