Every piece of paper counts

Our quarterly paper shredding events in Rossmoor are here not just because we care about the security of your documents. We also care about our community’s interconnection with the environment. That’s why it’s important that each pound of shredded paper is recycled by our shredding vendor:Â The Paper Depot.
Thanks for being part of the solution for improving our quality of life with your sustainability efforts and awareness, and for this year’s generous sponsors who make these our shredding events possible.
Recycling one ton of paper can save:
- 17 trees
- 7,000 gallons of water
- 380 gallons of oil
- 3.3 cubic yards of landfill space
- 4,000 kilowatts of energy (reducing greenhouse gases by one metric ton of carbon)
In 2021, after two shredding events, we were at 7,740 pounds of paper recycled. We are down a little, but we can still catch up with our two remaining shredding events.
Here are the numbers so far this year:
Rossmoor community has recycled 6,640 lbs of paper – that’s a savings of:
- 23,340 gallons of water
- 56 trees
- 1,254 gallons of oil
- 10.89 cubic yards of space in our landfill
- 13,200 kilowatts of energy (reducing greenhouse gases by one metric ton of carbon).
That’s pretty amazing! Our little shredding events are making a little difference in moving toward sustainability.

Please thank Play It Again Sports, our generous sponsor, who partners with us to make these our Shredding Events possible. They really get the concept, by recycling our gently used sports items through resale to the community.  As always, reach out with comments, questions, and suggestions. We love hearing from you (especially the good stuff!)
Let’s break records and help our environment. The RHA – Celebrating 65 — and continuing on to help  Rossmoor be THE BEST OF EVERYTHING!
