Joseph Claypool is the Rossmoor Woman’s Club April Student of the Month.
From Joseph:Â These past four years at Los Alamitos High School have been nothing short of amazing.Â
As a freshman and sophomore, I dedicated much of my time to soccer, playing for both the school team and my club team, FC Premier. Through soccer I not only improved my technical skills but made close connections, pursued a sincere passion and learned the value of discipline and teamwork.Â
Although I don’t play anymore, memories like scoring the winning goal against Huntington Beach and the lifelong friends I have made through soccer made it an unforgettable and invaluable experience.Â
More recently, I’ve had the pleasure of holding leadership roles in several clubs on campus, including the Los Al Pickleball Club, the Kindness Collective, and the National Honor Society.Â
A popular nickname I’ve earned on campus is “Student Rep” mainly because this past year I served as ASB’s Student Representative to the Board of Education. In this role I delivered monthly reports to the Board on the high school’s athletics, academics, activities and arts.Â
While presenting in front of the Board was a bit nerve-wracking at first, it taught me invaluable public speaking and leadership skills.Â
In addition to extracurriculars, I’ve challenged myself academically by taking 12 AP courses over the past four years. These experiences have helped me achieve my dream of being accepted to UCLA where I’ll be majoring in Applied Mathematics this fall.Â
Naturally, I’m incredibly excited for college, but it’s also bittersweet. I know I’ll be leaving behind a district and a community that have shaped me deeply and helped me grow into who I am today.
The Rossmoor Woman’s Club, founded in 1958, is a social and philanthropic organization affiliated with the international General Federation of Women’s Clubs. The club is based in the northwest Orange County community of Rossmoor but membership is open to any one. Â
Among other things, the club raises money to support local charities and to fund scholarships for LAHS students through two major annual fundraisers: Holiday Home Tour on the first Sunday in December (this year is on Sunday, December 5, 2026) and the spring Rossmoor Garden Tour, which held on the 3rd Sunday in May each year.  Â
