From the OCSD:
OCSD – North Patrol deputies responded to calls from frustrated neighbors in a Rossmoor neighborhood describing a man living in his truck.
When they arrived, they found a father and his 11-year-old son in the truck. They learned that in 2020, the father was unable to keep up with mortgage payments and eventually the pair was relegated to living in their white Chevy Tahoe. The father worked to find help but was unsuccessful.
Deputies formed a collaborative care team with Volunteers of America Los Angeles, PATH, and Homeless Intervention Services Orange County (HISOC) to find immediate shelter and long-term solutions. After just 10 days, the father and son transitioned from the uncertainty of homelessness to the security of temporary housing.
