16 Years in the Making with the RHA
Is it just us, or does it seem like already multiple homeowners in Rossmoor have a head start with their Christmas lights displays? We’ve already seen red and green rope lights, sparkling decorated trees, perfectly symmetrical roof-lined colored lights, and there were even reportings of Christmas inflatables glowing on front lawns at several locations. Wow – what a great sign that people are chomping at the bit for Santa and the Christmas season to arrive.
OK, it’s time to jump aboard Santa’s sleigh here in Rossmoor for the 16th annual RHA Rossmoor Christmas Lights Celebration!!!
Here’s a key evening date to remember and mark on the calendar: Saturday, December 17 – That’s when the judges will be out to discover the most spirited houses and blocks in Rossmoor
Throughout the 16 years, we’ve created new and fun elements to the Christmas Lights Celebration event – things like the Rossmoor Holiday Light Post, Most Festive Street Award, Christmas Lights Bicycle Parade, and of course a box of See’s chocolate candies to the Recognition Award and Honorable Mention winning homes.
This year, we are super excited to announce, “Family Judging Day!” Typically, in mid-December, we have a caravan of judges composed of kids and adult drivers venturing to every entered home on the preliminary map and having a hoot of a good time.
This year, all families are encouraged to hop in their cars (or bikes) and hit the streets to determine their favorite decorated Rossmoor homes and enter them for a Christmas Lights Recognition Award.
Families can create their own Award names for each house (e.g. Griswold Award, Winter Wonderland, Silent Night, Santa’s Workshop, Christmas Spirit) whatever silly or fun mood you feel when gazing at the house.
Each family can submit up to three homes on Saturday the 17th or Sunday the 18th here on this page. Each entry should include a photo and write-up summary of the house, explaining why it should win the Award name you just created.
Chris Marshall and Kieran Nolan co-chair the event, and more details and access to the preliminary Christmas Lights map will follow in the RHA website closer to December 17.
We’re excited to have more people in the Rossmoor community involved with the Christmas Lights Celebration.
For all the decorating Rossmoor homeowners (you know who you are!), now there are even more reasons to hop on that roof, find those lighted candy canes, get a few more extension cords and enter your home before December 17 for the 2022 Rossmoor Christmas Lights Celebration!
To enter: Nominate your home (or a neighbor’s home) click here and complete the nomination form. There’s no limit to how many homes you can nominate. The more you nominate the better chance you have to win one of the $50 gift cards (details on the entry page).
All nominations need to be submitted before 10:00 PM on Friday, December 16, so they can be included on the judging map.
Let the Christmas Celebration fun begin!

Your mission, should you choose to accept…
Nominate your home (or a neighbor’s home) for the celebration (opens in new tab). We’ll need your name, email address, and phone number (in case we need to contact you) and the address of the house you are nominating along with a photo or two (or video) of the display. The photos/video should be taken at night or when the house looks its best.
Thanks to all the families who have decorated over the years! Keep it going – let’s make the 16th year something to remember! We are looking forward to seeing all the new, creative, and colorful decorations throughout Rossmoor!
Hope that all makes sense. Any questions – just send them to RossmoorLights@gmail.com.
