Calling All Elves – Here We Go!

Going to start this in an incredibly positive tone – Let’s have a record-breaking number of Rossmoor Christmas Lights Celebration entries in 2020!!!

There is no better time to decorate your Rossmoor homestead for all to fully embrace and appreciate than this season. This annual Christmas Lights event, now going strong on its 14th year in Rossmoor, is more important this holiday season than ever before. While other neighborhood events have been delayed, canceled, or subdued, there’s no way that’s happening this Christmas.  This year the Celebration can be bigger than ever – AND WE NEED YOU!!!

So calling all Rossmoor Homeowners – if you’ve ever decorated your house with gift wrapping dinosaurs, snow scenes, Santa, elves, bright stars, Rudolph, snow men, snow women, singing angels, bubbles, forest animals, ginger bread characters, festive trailers, candy canes, manger scenes, lighted ropes, sights/sounds/motions and EMOTIONS, all or any of the above – we need you!

What else are you going to do those four days over the Thanksgiving weekend?

If you’ve never decorated at all, this is the perfect year to start! Rookie-of-the-Year Award is a huge honor.  If you’ve received or ready to receive one of our Recognition Awards: e.g. Winter Wonderland, Good Neighbor, Christmas Post Card, Silent Night, Childhood Enchantment, then unpack those decoration containers, buy even more extension cords, climb up those ladders, and replace those fuses. This is our time to light up the neighborhood in Christmas Lights!

Chris Marshall and Kieran Nolan co-chair the event and here are the Key Dates:

  • Saturday, December 12: Judges travel around on ice sleds with Alaskan Huskies, checking out the record number of registered homes
  • Tuesday, December 15: Recognition Awards and Rossmoor Christmas Lights Hot Spots announced on Our Rossmoor website, and Map available for downloading
  • December 16th onward: Families with mobile map in hand, drive/bike/walk throughout Rossmoor soaking in Christmas lights with hot cocoa and/or apple cider
  • Now (we’ll send a reminder around Thanksgiving too): Register your home (or a neighbor’s home) for the Celebration.  We’ll need your name, address, phone number (in case we need to send a photographer to your house), and email.

The goal is to make the 2020 Rossmoor Christmas Lights Hot Spots Map, so Christmas travelers know where to find these awesome homes.  However what’s most important is the number of smiles you bring to family’s faces this time of year, and we can all be socially distant, enjoying the Christmas Lights of Rossmoor, just like we have for over a decade.

Thanks to all the families who have decorated their homes over the years. We look forward to continuing the tradition and sharing your location with the Rossmoor community, spreading the Christmas cheer. Let’s brighten up our neighborhood like never before!

  1. When does the map come out it’s the 18th only a week left to Christmas would love to see who decorated and who won this weekend (the last one before xmas) also did anyone nominate or mention the townhouses? Some of those units are beautifully decorated.

    1. Hi Joseph.

The map was released on Tuesday afternoon, and can be found here

Unfortunately, I did not see any of the Town Houses nominated this year. This means that the judges did not even know to consider them to be included on the map.

Enjoy the tour. The lights are amazing this year.
