Calling all Rossmoor Christmas lights decorators: here’s to you, the Crazies!
It was a late Thanksgiving – no problem – you can do this. The rains have subsided – great! Softening the ground, making yard decorations easier to secure. Roofs and gutters have been cleared of debris, making for a clean surface to overhang colored lights! Time committed to build that lighted, sliding penguin display – OK maybe that one can wait until next year.
The Christmas season is upon us, and we are heading into our 13th season of the RHA Rossmoor Christmas Lights Celebration. Is it me? Or are you observing this too? Seems like many homes in our hood have already started on the Santa decorations even before Thanksgiving, and I’ve seen multiple postings on Nextdoor, asking for Christmas Lights decorating services. The holiday spirit is already in the air and what a great start!
Just like years gone by, Chris Marshall and Kieran Nolan co-chair the event, and certainly open to new, colorful suggestions!!! Here are the key dates, and please reach out with any questions, especially looking for first time home entries for the Rookie-of-the Year award.
- Friday, November 29: Day after Thanksgiving. Start hanging your lights and unpack lawn decorations. Go to In-and-Out burger for lunch or have mid-day leftovers
- Friday, December 13: RCSD Winterfest Trolley ride touring parts of Rossmoor’s decorated Christmas homes and streets
- Sunday, December 15: Judges travel around that evening, checking out the registered home entries and determine the recognition awards and homes to be included in the Rossmoor Hot Spots Map
- Tuesday, December 17: Recognition Awards and Christmas Lights Hot Spots announced on RHA website, and Map available for downloading
Registering your home for the Rossmoor Christmas Lights Celebration continues to be easy and free. To participate and earn a spot on the Rossmoor Christmas Hot Spots Map, register here. We’ll need your name, address, phone number (in case we need to send our photographer to your house), and email.
Thanks and so looking forward to seeing your house decorations and sharing your location with the community. Let’s make this a Merry Christmas with crazy fun decorations!
Chris Marshall and Kieran Nolan
